Organizers for the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards, one of the music industry’s most highly anticipated annual events held outside of the U.S., announced Thursday that Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria will serve as the host. The 2010 MTV EMAs will be held November 7 in Madrid, Spain, Hollywood News reports.
American pop singers Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are the most nominated recording artist’s, with five nods apiece. They are primed to go up against one another in four categories, including Best Female Act, Best Pop Act, Best Song, and Best Video, AFP reports.
In a statement issued Thursday, Longoria expressed admiration for Gaga and Perry by saying, “I can’t wait to see some fabulous performances and I absolutely love that the most nominated artists this year are two amazing women, who are making some of the most exciting music in pop right now.”
Longoria, who stated that she is “beyond excited” over earning the opportunity to host the annual event, addressed the news on her Twitter page, sharing with her followers, “Hola! So excited! I am hosting the 2010 MTV EMAs in the beautiful city of Madrid. Check out mtvema.com for details. See you there!!!”
