The Benefits of Organic Ingredients

We all know that “going green” is the big trend right now. According to the Organic Farming Research Foundation, over the last 10 years, sales of organic products have increased at least 20% every year. It’s without a doubt that consumers want to be eco-conscious and eco-friendly, but we have to ask…do organic beauty products really work as effectively as non-organic beauty products? And even more importantly, do they leave results? We did some serious research and talked to the hottest organic hair and beauty gurus, including hair stylist Jamal Hammadi and Zaega.com founder, Melissa Christenson and discovered that using organic ingredients isn’t just good for the environment; it’s great for your hair too! Unlike synthetic hair care formulas that can strip your hair of its natural moisture and shine, all-organic shampoos and conditioners, including Hamadi Organics products, contain no harsh chemicals and use earth derived ingredients that are proven to repair, revitalize and rejuvenate your hair! Below are the main organic ingredients used in Hamadi’s line as well as many other eco-friendly beauty products. Check out the benefits! Our favorites are ginger, lemon and ylang ylang!
Aloe - Soothing, moisturizing, rejuvenating for skin and scalp; natural humectant – draws in moisture for smooth, sleek hair
Anise – Clarifying, concentration improving, oil controlling, dandruff minimizing

Jennifer Aniston started a hairstyle hysteria with “The Rachel”. Since then, millions of women have flocked to salons with her photo in hand. Straight or wavy, short or long, Jennifer Aniston’s famous tresses continue to set trends. Find out how Jen gets those golden sun-kissed locks. Learn how to create her free-flowing curls and and her sleek, sexy look.

You will need

* 1 blow dryer with diffuser

* 1 volumizing nousse (if your hair is fine)

* 1 curling iron

* 1 flat, paddle brush

* 1 blow dryer

* 1 comb

* 1 flat iron

* 1 shine serum

* 1 hairspray (optional)

1.

Step 1: The Color

Jennifer Aniston’s sun-kissed hair color is her signature statement; her style is quite simple. Golden highlights brighten her brunette hair, while beach blonde streaks frame her face. If your hair is a dark blonde to medium brown, you’ve got the perfect base for Jen’s color; simply add a few highlights or a gloss for shine. If yours is a medium brown or darker, you’ll need to lighten your base to a golden brown and then add blonde highlights on top of that.

2.

Step 2: Making Waves

To create Jennifer Aniston’s waves, you’ll need a blow dryer with a diffuser. If your hair is fine, apply volumizing mousse to your hair before blow drying. Using the diffuser, scrunch your hair from the roots to the ends. Hold the blow dryer in place for about five seconds, then remove. You should see waves beginning to form. Continue to work the diffuser through the hair moving toward the crown, until the hair is dry.

3.

Step 3: Defining The Curl

Jennifer Aniston’s hair is full of free-flowing curls. To get this look, use a curling iron with a barrel of an inch to two inches. Hold the curling iron at an angle. Starting about an inch from the ends of the hair, wrap the hair around the barrel, away from the face. Leaving the ends of the hair out of the barrel creates a more natural curl, not a tight ringlet.

4.

Step 4: Loosen Up

America’s favorite friend never looks like she’s trying too hard. Run your hands under your hair and gently tousle the hair at the root. Now you’ve got a look that’s California-chic, just like Jennifer Aniston.

5.

Step 5: Change It Up

What makes Jennifer Aniston’s long layered hair so great is its versatility. She easily transitions from tousled, wavy bed-head to sleek, straight and polished. To get Jen’s straight look, begin by blow drying your hair with a flat paddle brush. Hold the blow dryer at an angle above the brush, as you pull the hair down and away from your scalp. Do not bend the hair with the brush or curl it under, pull the hair straight down.

6.

Step 6: Check Your Layers

When you’re going for a sleek, polished look, you can’t afford split ends or stray hairs. Jennifer Aniston keeps her face framing layers on the A-list with regular trims. Keep your layers clean with trims every two to three months.

7.

Step 7: Flat Iron Finish

Flat iron your hair section by section. Run a comb through your hair, following with the flat iron. This will rid your hair of any knots that could catch in the straightener and damage your hair.

8.

Step 8: Shine & Hold

Celebrities like Jennifer Aniston have stylists who know how to perfect hair with products. Here are two great tricks. Place a bit of shine serum or spray on your hands, then run your palms over the ends of your hair for a brilliant, smooth finish. Then calm any flyaway hairs with this trick – coat your hands well with hairspray, and press down the flyaway hairs. You’ll have sleek hair without stiffness.

Embrace The Summer Season With Simple Stylish Hair Options And Pretty Summer Dresses

4 Jul Spring And Summer Hair And Dress Styles-500394

1. A Side of Glamour Girl: Take a cue from stylist Jordan M.’s look at the Alexander Berardi spring ’11 show and pull loose waves into an easy, breezy take on the low pony—just sweep it to the side. A delicate, lacy dress rounds out the romantic, Brigitte Bardot-inspired vibe.

The Hair: The side pony at Alexander Berardi spring ’11. Image courtesy of Bumble and bumble.

The Dress: Asos Salon Lace Shift Dress, $258.59, available at Asos.

The Products: Bumble and bumble Thickening Hairspray, $26, available at Bumble and bumble; Sedu Revolution Clipless Curling Iron, $199.99, available at Folica.com.

2. Parisian Prep: Add some volume at the crown and a sleek headband for a modern take on a ’60s ponytail. Blow-dry gel keeps hair soft and frizz-free, and a touch of hairspray locks the style in place. Since the look is simple, choose a dress with a vibrant pattern.

The Dress: BCBG Taja Printed Strapless Minidress, $238, available at BCBG.

The Products: Redken Velvet Gelatine 07 Cushioning Blow-Dry Gel, $17, visit Redken for locations; L. Erickson USA Ultra Comfort Headband Silk Shantung in Noir, $24, available at France Luxe.

3. Braided Beauty: For the hottest days (and nights), this French braid-bun combo gets your hair completely out of the way while mixing a little edge with elegance. Plus, it’s a perfect style for second-day hair, and it works with bangs, too. (Just start the braids closer to the hairline to incorporate shorter bangs.) Pair it with a patterned dress for an extra dose of the wild side.

The Dress: Marc by Marc Jacobs Printed Silk Dress, $280, available at Net-A-Porter.

The Products: Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray, $21, visit Moroccanoil for salons; Oscar Blandi Pronto Instant Glossing Cream, $19, available at Sephora.

4. Flower Girl: We love a good hair accessory, but really the only acceptable time to rock a flower is in the summer, or at a wedding. So, follow Marc Jacobs’ ’70s glam lead and go with sexy volume and a flower tucked behind the ear. Keep the focus on the hair and pick a simple ensemble with clean lines—feel free to amp up the disco feel with a one-shoulder dress.

The Dress: J.Crew Toga Dress, $150, available at J.Crew.

5. Updated Beach Hair: Without a doubt, textured beach hair is the style of the summer. Take the look one step further—and help keep your hair off your face—with a side swoop anchored with a small, fishtail braid. (You can add a beach spray to damp hair and air-dry, or spray on dry hair for a dose of texture). A flowy maxi-dress rounds out the beachy, boho aesthetic.

The Products: Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam, $15, available at Aveda; Oliver Ifergan Atelier Day At The Beach Sea Spray, $24.77, available at Oliver Ifergan.

6. Your High-ness: A high, sleek ponytail meets the classic braid is a quick and easy, warm weather-approved ‘do. The tricks to getting that height? Stylist Rodney Cutler recommends blow-drying roots away from the face in a slightly upward direction and securing hair with a bungee cord to keep it in place.  And make sure to balance out the intensity of the pulled-back look with a brightly colored maxi-dress.

Summary: During the summer season it’s pretty natural to want to wear a light pretty dress every day of the week. It’s nice to embrace the beautiful weather while it lasts.

For women with longer hair, there are options other than the go-to ponytail or banana clip for a simple summer hairstyle – one that keeps your hair out of your face, is low-maintenance and still looks stylish despite the havoc the Valley’s harsh climate can cause.

Not only are these styles easy, they rely on imperfection and messiness as key elements. Whether you want your hair down and wavy or up and out of the way, there is a style that could work for your next summer soiree.

Hair Health: A Curly Girls Secret To Having Beautiful Gorgeous Full Thick Long Hair

30 Jun Natural-Curly-Hair-4059658

What’s your go-to style? Hair up or down?
“Down and wild.”

Do you have any hair icons that helped inspire your look?
“Neneh Cherry, Lisa Bonet, and Cree Summer.”

How long did it take to get your hair to this length?
“It took almost four years. I used to have bangs and crazy layers for years, but I wanted to grow it out to have sexy, hippie hair. It takes forever to grow out tightly curled hair like mine, because it never looks like it’s growing. Curly hair is really is so much longer then it seems. If I straightened my hair, it would probably be past the middle of my back.”

Do you have any secret styling weapons?
“I cannot go without Paul Mitchell The Conditioner Leave-In Moisturizer. Hands down, it’s the best leave-in conditioner I have ever used. I drench my hair in it! Also, my natural hair color has always been a sandy-blondish color, and growing up in California, I was always in the sun. So, to intensify that color, in the summer I spray on lemon juice and go to the beach. It totally creates a natural ombre look.”

Do you ever flirt with the idea of chopping your hair?
“I did that once and it was totally Babs in A Star is Born. I wouldn’t do it again because it takes forever to grow.”

What are the hazards to having long hair? Any horror stories?
“My hair is really wild. So if I walk under trees or something, you better believe that when I wash it, twigs come out in the shower. And one time, I brushed my hand through the front of my hair and there was a bee stuck in it. That freaked me out!”

What do you love about having long hair?
“I love that it’s like a natural accessory. It goes perfect with my personal style and out of all of my hair-dos, this is my most favorite. It’s so fancy free.”

What’s your everyday hair routine?
“I wake up and put a little BioSilk Therapy serum in the palm of my hands, run through my tendrils, and go.”

Do you use any special tricks to combat hair issues and keep it healthy?
“I always deep condition and when I’m in the shower, I detangle my hair with a very wide-tooth comb. I also let my hair air dry (it takes about six hours), so I take a shower at night and go to bed with it wet. When I wake up in the morning, it’s dry and the curls are perfect.”

Besides your hair, what’s your signature makeup look?
“My signature makeup look is kohl eyeliner from Pakistan (I buy it on eBay), MAC’s Cremeblush in Cheery (it’s been discontinued, but I can still find it online), and Nivea lip balm. My lips are naturally very pink, so if I wear lipstick, I put foundation on my lips first, then apply the color. Sometimes—when I pull my hair back,I wear MAC’s red Ruby Woo lipstick and mascara, and that’s it.”

Hair Trend Photos: 14 Different Ways To Wear Your Hair To The Gym

23 Jun Sidebraid-Lala-Vasquez

Side Braid: Lala Vasquez

If you have incredibly long hair, a side braid can help keep everything under control. After your gym session, undo the braid to reveal gorgeous, soft curls.

Ponytail with a Poof: Kim Kardashian

Whether your hair is long or short, a classic ponytail will never go out of style. Don’t forget to give the top of your head a little poof for emphasis—and to avoid that not-so-sleek sweaty look.

Tight Ponytail: Emma Roberts

A tight ponytail is a favorite for gym goers. Keep the hairstyle really neat by running over your head with a toothbrush! Its bristles will keep flyaways in check.

Loose Ponytail with Layers: Julianne Hough

Keep the rest of your mane flowing in a loose ponytail. This hairstyle works best for girls with layers and bangs.

Braided Bangs: Sarah Connor

Have bangs that you can’t (or don’t want to) pull back? Try braiding it across to keep it off your sweaty forehead and face.

Braid and Bun: Alexandra Fulton

Want extra control? Braid your bangs and tie the rest of your mane into a bun. You’ll be able to run, do Pilates, and head straight to happy hour with this hairstyle.

Crazy Curls: Teresa Palmer

Girls with curls, this hairstyle is for you! Create a super-natural ‘do by bringing your hair into a ponytail at the top of your head. Then, wrap your curls around using bobby pins to secure the chunky strands.

High Bun: Jamie Chung

We love a high bun for special occasions, but you can also rock the easy, chic look while exercising. Flip your head over when you work your hair for best results.

Pigtails: Brittany Curran

Pigtails aren’t just for kids. Try them for your next gym visit. Wear them high, low, or in the middle (as pictured).

Hat Head: Paris Hilton

Hello, hats! Don’t forget—you can use accessories other than rubber bands when you’re at the gym. Use a hat to keep your hair off of your face. Just beware of hat hair!

Lovely Waves: Vanessa Hudgens

Let it all hang loose. This hairstyle works best on girls with waves and curls. Flaunt those tresses, girlfriend!

Beautiful Bangs: Sofia Vergara

Don’t worry about your bangs—showcase them on or off the courts. Tie your ponytail high, and worry about your bangs later.

Which hairstyle do you tend to wear the most when your working out at the gym?

How To Stay Cool In Summer With Effortless And Stylish Updos

5 Jun Up-Do-Braids-203948

The Elegant Updo—Instead of a simple bun, try this tucked-up look from Dolce & Gabbana’s fall ’11 show. Apply a root-lifting spray to dampen hair and blow-dry. Start with a middle-part and lightly twist low sections on each side until they meet in the back, and secure with bobby-pins. Gather the rest of the hair, twist up, tuck in the ends, and then loosely pin. Finish with a light mist of hairspray.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Lavish Lift Root Booster, $5.99, available at Drugstore.com; Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray, $15, visit Redken for salons; Dolce & Gabbana fall ’11 images courtesy of Redken.

The Braided Swoop—We love a good braid, but we also love that these mini-plaits work for ladies with bangs, too. First, apply a lightweight finishing serum to tame flyways. Then, start on one side of the head and braid across. Pull the braids across your forehead and secure with bobby-pins. Finish with hairspray.

Phyto Phytolisse Finishing Serum, $30, available at Sephora; Davines Glam Power Hairspray, $25, visit Davines for salons; image courtesy of Pixie Market.

The Twisted Bun—We’ve been digging the side-twist for a while now, mainly for its ease and versatility. Pair it with hair piled into a bun and secured with a cute accessory, and you’ve got an effortless summer updo. Perfect the look by applying either a texturizing sea spray or frizz-fighting gel on damp hair, blow-dry or let hair air dry, then twist—starting at the crown—and secure. Voilà!

Bumble and bumble Surf Spray, $23, available at Bumble and bumble; Tresemme Tres Gel Extra Firm Hold, $4.99, available at CVS; Urban Outfitters Leather Bun Holder, $14, available at Urban Outfitters
