One French celebrity magazine reported that Bruni had gone to the high-street store H&M accompanied by a bodyguard and spent €300 (£260) on maternity clothes, including jeans with expandable waistlines. She’d recently let slip after a newspaper interview: “I’m having problems doing up my trousers.”
Michelle Obama isn’t the only First Lady to shop at H&M.
Mother-to-be Carla Bruni-Sarkozy reportedly spent 300 euros ($425) on maternity clothes at one of the chain’s Rue de Rivoli locations in France, according to the French magazine Voici.
The chain store wouldn’t comment on whether the first lady of France is an H&M shopper but that didn’t stop them from tweeting about their famous customer.
Voici magazine reveals Carla Bruni’s maternity wear shopping at H&M,” tweeted H&M France on May 9.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s father told a German newspaper that his son and daughter-in-law are expecting their first child together.
Gossip magazines have been speculating about the pregnancy due since April due to Bruni-Sarkozy’s uncharacteristically loose-fitting clothing.
Bruni-Sarkozy, 43, has a 10-year-old son from a previous relationship with a French philosophy professor.
Sarkozy has two adult sons from his first marriage and a 14-year-on son from his second marriage.
