Of lightening her hair over the years, Canale told, “I began by taking her from a medium brown to a light golden brown with two bright highlights to accent the ‘Rachel’ cut. From that point on we gradually went blonder.”


Parisian Designer Flore Garcia Bour Designs Dress With Cigarette Butts

Talk about a smokin’ dress!

A Parisian designer is creating a dress made entirely from discarded cigarette butts.

Flore Garcia Bour, a 22-year-old student, is picking up butts by the hundreds from the streets and stitching them into a dress in an effort to make a statement about the amount of litter the tobacco produces.

“I have always been revolted by the number of butts dropped on our streets while it would be simple to change habits and to put them into a rubbish bin,” she told Agence France-Presse.

She also wants to call attention to the fact that the butts take a long time to decompose.

“I hope my dress shocks smokers and plays a role in making them more aware of the damage they do by throwing their butts away that degrade in 18 months at best or 12 years at worst.”

The dress, which she has just recently finished, won’t smell as foul as the cigarette butts from which they’re made. Bour treated them before they were stitched into the dress to ward off the smell.

Bobbi Brown Hosts Dress For Success Worldwide Gala 2011

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics hosted the gala event of the week at Chelsea Piers in New York City, the annual “Something to Share” Dress for Success Worldwide Gala 2011.

Over, a thousand guests gathered at Pier Sixty and raised over $1.75 million (!) for the Dress for Success organization. Guests included popular Newark Mayor, Cory Booker, former White House Social Secretary-turned-Johnson Publishing CEO, Desiree Rogers, actresses Susan Saint James and Niecy Nash, social activist Lauren Bush, TV hosts Al Roker and Deborah Roberts, and CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide, Joi Gordon.

The guests came together to honor sixteen women who’ve achieved economic independence after receiving professional attire, network support, and career development tools via the charitable organization.

Event co-chair, Bobbi Brown changed the face of makeup with a handful of lipsticks and a simple philosophy, “Women want to look and feel like themselves, only prettier and more confident.”

Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women worldwide. Their goal is to help women thrive in both work and life. Summary: Last week, I was lucky enough to be invited by Bobbi Brown and Maureen Case (respectfully speaking, president of Estee Lauder group’s La Mer, Jo Malone, and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics) to join their table for the Dress for Success Gala at Pier Sixty in New York.

This is a charitable cause that’s been very close to both Bobbi’s and Maureen’s heart. Together, they have been the biggest cheerleaders for the not-for-profit organization, which has been providing interview suits, confidence boosts, and career development to low-income women for more than 10 years, donating more than $1 million in makeup and funds to the women’s-empowerment organization.

And on that very special night on Tuesday, Bobbi, Maureen, and friends of D.F.S. drew more than 1,000 attendees and raised more than $1.75 million. Talk about empowerment: they rule!
