Watch Beyoncé as she sizzles in an exclusive behind the scenes video of the Queen B photoshoot for Bazaar by Alexi Lubomirski at Paris’ Ritz Hotel. The bootylicious diva is the embodiment of sex appeal and the perfect cover girl for September’s Strictly Sexy issue.

She’s become one of the most powerful women in music in recent years and Beyonce has revealed that performing in Egypt two months before the country’s uprising was one of the moving experiences of her career.

The 29-year-old popstar says she will never forget seeing women in burkhas singing along to some of her biggest hits.

“There were a lot of women in the audience in burkas,” she tells the UK edition of Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

“They were singing along to ‘Irreplaceable’ – it was amazing! Some of the men got really upset! They were like to their women, ‘We have to get you out of here!’….“I guess some of them (men) do get annoyed. But I never want to do ‘the banner thing’.”

The ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ singer says that she is happy to be called a feminist, as it comes naturally to her, however she believes the movement may need a new name.

“I don’t really feel that it’s necessary to define it,” she says. “It’s just something that’s kind of natural for me, and I feel like…you know…it’s, like, what I live for. I need to find a catchy new word for ‘feminism’, right? Like ‘bootylicious’…”

Beyonce admits that she loves spending time with her female friends, such as actress Gwyneth Paltrow, and says she doesn’t understand women who surround themselves with men

“I’m afraid when women never hang around with other women,” she says. “That’s a little scary to me – why is that?”

The star says she often spends time at the home of Gwyneth and her and husband, Coldplay star Chris Martin, and has great admiration for her friend.

“She pushes her boundaries all the time,” she explains. “You go to her house and she makes you feel like you never want to go home. She is what I strive to be one day.”

Beyonce says that she and her husband Jay-Z have become incredibly close to Gwyneth and Chris because they “have very similar values”.

“We have also been able to become each other’s support systems over the years, as none of us needs anything from the other,” she says.

Beyonce is turning 30 in September and she says admits she is very excited about the future and feels very comfortable with who she is.

“This is such a pivotal moment in my life! I’m transitioning as a woman, and I’m finally able to express myself as I am.”

Beyonce dons a selection of outfits by Azzedine Alaia, Armani, Prive, Hermes, Azzaro and Lanvin in a stunning photo-shoot for magazine.

The full interview appears in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK. A behind the scenes video of the photo-shoot is available at  www.harpersbazaar.co.uk

Singer Amy Winehouse Body Is Removed From Her Home Following Her Death

23 Jul

A body, believed to be that of singer Amy Winehouse, is removed from her home following her death, in north London, Saturday, July 23, 2011.

Amy Winehouse, one of the most talented singers of her generation whose hit song “Rehab” summed up her struggles with addiction, died in London on Saturday at the age of 27.

The Grammy winner, famed for her black beehive hair, soulful voice and erratic behaviour on and off stage, was found dead at her new home in Camden a month after a shambolic performance in Serbia forced her to cancel her entire European tour.

Police were called to the address at around 1500 GMT and nearly five hours later the body was removed for a post mortem after it appeared she had lost her battle with drink and drugs.

“Inquiries continue into the circumstances of the death,” said police superintendent Raj Kohli. “At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained and there have been no arrests in connection with the incident.”

He said reports that Winehouse had died of a suspected drugs overdose were speculation at this stage.

Family members had long warned that Winehouse’s lifestyle, which saw her in and out of rehab and blighted her career as a live and recording artist, could be her downfall.

Her last filmed performance was in Serbia in June, when Winehouse was jeered by the crowd as she struggled to perform her songs and stay upright. On some tunes, the audience did most of the singing.

The gig, posted on the YouTube video sharing site, prompted her management to cancel all scheduled performances and give the performer as long as it took to recover.

Winehouse’s record label Universal said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer. Our prayers go out to Amy’s family, friends and fans at this difficult time.”

Around 50 shocked fans and onlookers as well as camera crews and photographers gathered behind police tape blocking off the leafy street where Winehouse had just moved into a new house.

A few left flowers, candles and a teddy bear. One note of condolence read: “Beautiful Amy, night night, sleep tight.”

“BACK TO BLACK”

The British singer was discovered by soul singer Tyler James at the age of 16 and in 2003 her debut album “Frank” was released, to general acclaim.

Her second album “Back to Black” was released in October 2006 and reached the No. 1 spot in Britain and earned her five Grammy awards, pop music’s equivalent of the Oscars.

The album produced a string of memorable tunes, including “You Know I’m No Good,” “Love Is a Losing Game” and “Rehab,” which contained the line: “They tried to make me go to rehab. I said ‘no, no, no.'”

Born on September 14, 1983, to a Jewish family with a history of jazz musicians, Winehouse’s personal life has filled Britain’s tabloid newspapers.

Winehouse was photographed wandering the streets of London barefoot and in only a bra and jeans in 2007 looking confused, the same year she married Blake Fielder-Civil who spent time in prison for beating up a pub landlord. They divorced in 2009.

In 2008, the singer’s father Mitch said she had developed the lung condition emphysema and warned it could kill her if she continued to smoke drugs.

Mitch, a taxi driver who launched his own musical career on the back of his daughter’s success, was in New York when the news broke. British media said he was on his way back to London.

Tributes poured in for an artist whose personal troubles stole the headlines in recent years and thwarted plans for an eagerly-anticipated third album.

Soccer star and celebrity David Beckham told Sky News: “It’s very sad, she was such a talented girl, and a girl with such a huge future. Our hearts go out to her family, her loved ones.”

Sarah Brown, wife of former prime minister Gordon Brown, tweeted: “sad sad news of Amy Winehouse – great talent, extraordinary voice, and tragic death, condolences to her family.”

Kelly Osbourne, a singer and television personality, also took to the micro blogging site, writing: “i cant even breath right now im crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. i love you forever Amy & will never forget the real you!”

“RICH, SOULFUL VOICE”

The Recording Academy in the United States praised the singer, who brought elements of jazz and Motown back into the musical mainstream.

“Her rich, soulful and unique voice reflected her honest songwriting and earned her a devoted fan following, critical acclaim, and the genuine respect and admiration of her musical peers,” said its president Neil Portnow.

Broadcaster and radio DJ Paul Gambaccini said Winehouse’s early death was sadly no surprise.

“We have been dreading this news for some time, hoping against hope that she would turn herself around, but she showed no evidence of being able to do so,” he told BBC TV.

“She just could not control herself. It’s tragic because both (her) albums were superb. We have 40 years of Frank Sinatra records, it turns out we only have two Amy Winehouse records.”

Daniel Rossellat, founder of the Paleo Festival in Nyon, Switzerland, where Winehouse had been due to perform before withdrawing from the tour, likened her to Janis Joplin, another gifted singer who died at the age of 27.

“It is the tragic end to a wonderful voice, similar to Janis Joplin both in destiny and in voice,” he told Swiss television.

Singer Billy Bragg wrote on his Twitter page that Winehouse joined not only Joplin but also Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain — who all died at the same age. Source

Singer And Song Writer: Leona Lewis Share’s Break Up Feelings On Third Album

1 May

Leona Lewis is going all out for revenge by making her third album a venomous ode to ex-boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa.

I’m told the 2006 X Factor winner has been venting her anger over their split last August in some strong lyrics.

My source says: “Leona was with Lou for over ten years and things ended very badly.

“But what you live through makes you stronger, and Leona’s throwing all her emotion into the music she’s working on. She means business. This album needs to be daring and innovative.”

The star – who became an overnight household name after the release of her debut album Spirit – has co-penned a track called Trouble with songwriter Emeli Sande, and it seems all too evident that the song is about moving on from Lou.

The lyrics say: “You drink more than you used to, fell in love how could you?

“Trust your heart like only fools do, hold on let it bleed.

“You smoked 10 now it’s 20, bet you wish you’d never met me.

“To stick around you must be crazy, hold on let it bleed.

“I told you never to get used to me, I stay awake while you fall asleep.

“I’m a whole lot of trouble, we’re in a whole lot of trouble.

“You shout louder than you used to, and you hold on tighter in the bedroom.”

Music manager Lou has strong of words of his own. He tweeted last week: “Tired of being walked over… Same s**t has been going on now for over seven months. Silence is no longer golden.”

Ooooh, cryptic! But let’s face it, anger equals success in the charts nowadays. Most recently, Adele’s album – which was written after she was ditched by her boyfriend – has been a huge hit around the globe, reaching sales of two million in the UK alone.

It’s clear Leona’s latest album will be very different. As well as a collaboration with Ibiza dance king David Guetta and Beyonce’s former maestro Rico Love, she’s been working on a track called Mountains with former Blazin’ Squad members Flava (James Murray) and Mus (Mustafa Omer). How funny is that?

One person taking no chances on making the album a runaway success is label boss Simon Cowell. He’s already planning to give Miss Lewis a huge push, booking her to perform on the US version of X Factor ahead of Christmas.

Here’s the official synopsis of the ‘All About Aubrey’

“All About Aubrey” follows international superstar and multi-platinum recording artist Aubrey O’Day as she launches the next stage of her career. The lead singer in Danity Kane, one of the hottest all-girl bands with multi-platinum albums, O’Day had it all — fame, glamour, talent, and an entourage. But her sassiness got the best of her, and she was ultimately fired in the most shocking way — on national TV during an episode of “Making the Band” by her demanding boss, Diddy.

Now O’Day is ready to make a comeback and stake her claim in the industry. And once again, she plans to do it with the whole world watching. But this time it’s going to be different — it’s going to be on her terms.

At 26 years old and a little more worldly, O’Day is ready to tackle the tough questions. Will she find Mr. Right? Can she prove to the industry that she has the star power to get back on top? Can she put in the hard work to deal with the cameras, the gossip, and the backstabbing?

O’Day takes on the challenges with passion, drive, humor and honesty. With a band of good but crazy friends, tie-dyed dogs, and a demanding team of industry professionals, O’Day hopes to achieve her goals without cracking under pressure.

The show premieres on Oxygen on Monday, March 7th and will show on Mondays from 10-11 p.m. (ET).

R&B Singer-Songwriter Teena Marie 54 Found Dead At Her California Home

26 Dec

(CNN) — Teena Marie, a celebrated R&B singer-songwriter, was found dead Sunday at her California home, her manager said.

Born Mary Christine Brockert in Santa Monica, California, the 54-year-old artist famously paired with late funk legend Rick James and was nominated four times for a Grammy Award, according to her official website.

Marie was found dead by her daughter after apparently dying in her sleep, manager Mike Gardner said.

“Teena was a black voice trapped in a white body,” said Cathy Hughes, founder of Radio One, a broadcasting company that targets African-American and urban listeners. “I would always tell her that she was one of the greatest vocalists of our time.”

Among her songs were “Lovergirl,” “Portuguese Love,” “Ooo La La La,” and “I’m a Sucker for Your Love.”

While no cause of death has been released, the singer’s publicist Lynn Jeter said that Marie suffered a grand mal seizure — a neurological event, marked by loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions, according to the Mayo Clinic — a month ago.

“Luckily, someone was there,” Jeter said of that seizure. “The ambulance took her to the hospital, and on the way she had another seizure.”

The publicist said that she had a “great” conversation on Saturday with Marie, who told her that she was excited about heading to Atlanta to perform this week — in what would have been her first performance since the seizure.

Marie sang under various record labels, including Motown, Epic and Cash Money Classics, since bursting on the scene as a 19-year-old, according to her website. Her most recent album, Sapphire, features collaborations with Smokey Robinson, Kurupt and Gerald Albright.

Eddie Levert, founder of the vocal group The O’Jays, praised Marie as both a singer and mother.

“There are a lot of black people who swore by her and believed in her, as far as her music was concerned,” he said. “She was a good mom, and to me, that is saying a lot.”

Summary: Rihanna share’s her personal side of what she went through in her relationship with Chris Brown. She gets very personal about herself. As well as share’s where she is right now in the present part of her life.

I absolutely know in life we all grow out of something just to grow right back into being happy again. Life is always throwing curve balls at us. The question is are we willing to face things head on. Or do we just dodge the curve balls. Never learning from our mistakes. Mistakes are nothing more then lessons that allow us to gain maturity as we age. True wisdom comes from being in a bad place in life. Without mistakes how would we learn and grow as individuals you can’t.

Rihanna looks radiant and stunning in her photographs shot with Mikael Jansson for Marie Claire cover and interview spread. I guess being happy and stronger then ever will do that to any person.

Remember when life has dealt you a situation that seems totally impossible to get out of. That’s just life reminding you that you have hit a stage in your life that you grown up and ready to move to something bigger and better. Just we do not look at life’s preview that way.

So check out Rhianna on the cover of Marie Claire Co UK. So go check out your nearest news stands if you haven’t already.  I picked my copy up at the bookstore!

Happy Holidays~
