Paris Hiltons Interview On E-News By Giuliana Rancic Over View Controversy

9 Jun

Nobody was accusing Paris Hilton of pulling a Chris Brown or anything, but rumor has it that she engaged in some serious diva behavior after facing some unexpectedly pointed questions about her new Oxygen show on The View last week.

“I’ve known [Barbara Walters] for years, and I really respect her as a journalist,” Hilton said today in an exclusive sit-down with E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic. “I know that she has to ask questions like that. I think she should actually watch the show, then she’d understand more.”

Questions like what, again?

In describing a scene from The World According to Paris in which Hilton complains about having to wake up early to do community service and says “it sucks,” Walters reminded the seasoned reality-TV star about the days when she had just served jail time for DUI back in 2007.

“I think you’re an adorable girl,” Walters, whom Hilton apparently considered enough of a confidante to call from jail, assured her. “You learned a good deal…You said you wanted to spend a lot of time helping fellow [female] prisoners…I know you’ve raised a lot of money…But why haven’t you done more of that and less of this?”

“I do charity work all the time,” Hilton said. “That’s something my family has brought me up to do, and it’s shown in the show, as well. And I like to have fun—I joke around!”

Walters replied that she understood that, but if Hilton was serious about charity work and helping people, “Why not present that side of yourself, if indeed it exists?”

Hilton maintained her composure on the air, of course, but the rumor afterward, Rancic reminded her today, was that she and mom Kathy Hilton were “going ballistic backstage.”

But according to her, that’s just not true at all.

“Those were all rumors…as usual,” Hilton said.

“I think they hadn’t seen the show,” she added. “They had only seen a clip where I’m complaining about my community service…You know, I’m not going to wake up at 6 in the morning and be all excited, ‘Yeah, I’m doing community service!’

“I basically said it sucks, and I was being honest. I think they were offended by that, but I’m not really sure. I think [the so-called feud] was really blown out of proportion. It wasn’t that big of a deal. I wasn’t screaming at producers backstage.

“That’s not true.”

Summary: Last week, while promoting her new series “The World According to Paris” on “The View,” Paris Hilton squirmed under questioning from Barbara Walters and then reportedly threw a fit backstage in response to the hardball interrogation. To recap, Walters simply asked the reality star why she was shown griping about her court-ordered community service (Hilton is seen complaining that “it sucks”) and why, if she did lots of charity work, as she claimed, she didn’t show that on her series.

Watch Hilton being questioned on “The View” here.

Well, Hilton went on the offensive at the E! News studios. Asked by Giuliana Rancic what really happened on “The View,” Hilton dismissed Walters and the others as not fully informed. “I think they hadn’t seen the show,” she said. “They’d only seen a clip where I was complaining about my community service.” As for saying her community service sucked, Hilton said, “I was just being honest.” She also addressed her reported tantrum backstage (”Not true,” she said) and seemed to scold Walters at the end. “I really respect her as a journalist,” said Hilton. “I know she has to ask those questions. I think she should actually watch the show and then she’d understand more.” Watch the video and get the whole story for yourself.

New Season: Real Housewives Of New Jersey Returns With A Fight!

18 May

Real Housewives Of New Jersey returned for its third season last night (16th May 2011), introducing Teresa Giudice’s sister-in-law Melissa Gorga, reports the Washington Post. During yesterday’s season premiere, the Real Housewives Of New Jersey attended the christening of Gorga’s son, where a huge brawl broke out.

Fans of the show soon came to realize that veteran housewife Giudice does not see eye-to-eye with Gorga and tempers began to flare at the family event. Teresa attempted to congratulate her brother Joe on his son’s special day, but he rebuffed the gesture, calling her “garbage”. Giudice’s husband, also named Joe, stepped in to defend his wife and the two men immediately began brawling in front of their children. As punches were thrown, a huge crowd of suited men began rushing to the scene, attempting to break up the fight. The episode closed with Gorga’s husband yelling at his father in the lobby of the Christening venue. Melissa appeared on the ‘Today Show’ earlier this week to speak about her decision to join the cast of the show, telling host Kathie Lee Gifford, “I thought about it for months and months, but I signed on the dotted line”.

Danielle Staub, the star of last season’s Real Housewives Of New Jersey, will not feature in the new series. Staub will instead star alongside Heidi Montag in a new reality television show slated to air on Vh1 later this year.

Reality Star: Alexis Bellino Shares Her Battle With Anorexia And Bulimia

In case you weren’t already convinced by the epic catfights and breakdowns on the “Real Housewives of Orange County,” living in the posh California community doesn’t mean life is perfect.

Cast member Alexis Bellino has revealed she’s still struggling with an eating disorder that first began when she was 12 years old.

“I try not to let my weight consume me, but an eating disorder is a lifetime disease,” she told Life & Style.

The reality star said she “just didn’t want to eat” while watching her parents go through a divorce as she entered her teen years.

“Looking back, I think it was my way of controlling something at a time when everything else in my life was out of my control,” Bellino said.

But it wasn’t until another six years passed that the leggy blond, feeling “so heavy,” began purging.

The bulimia continued through the rise and fall of her first marriage before she began seeking help in 2002.

Three years later, she married Jim Bellino, who “finally got me to stop counting calories,” she said.

“He loves my body,” she told the magazine. “In fact, he says he likes me about 5 pounds heavier.”

Bellino said she now weighs between 118 and 122 pounds, but regularly eats less than 900 calories a day and remains fixated on the scale.

“It’s not like I’m healed,” she explained. “This haunts me.”

And while she believes eating disorders “cannot be cured,” they don’t “have to be practiced.”

“My goal is to reach other women,” Bellino explained, “and let them know that they can conquer it.”

Reality Tv Series: Meet VH1 Mob Wives From Staten Island New York

22 Apr

As someone who’s watched at least a few episodes of every version of the Real Housewives franchise and feels a bit nauseous about it, I didn’t come to Mob Wives with high hopes. But this floridly funny, vicariously vicious reality series exerts a vulgar charm. It’s like watching a cross between The Sopranos and The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

These are truly mob spouses. Karen Gravano is the daughter of Sammy “The Bull” Gravano; Renee Graziano is the daughter of Anthony Graziano, said to be a high-ranking member of the Cosa Nostra. The four main “wives” have either husbands or fathers who have served or are serving time in jail, and the woman are tough, issuing blithe declarations such as “Ya never rat no matter what” and “I beat up a lotta f—in’ people.”

So much for family secrets. Several women related to men serving time for mob-related crimes are now reality-TV stars.

“I think we’re brave,” said Karen Gravano, one of the stars of the new VH1 series “Mob Wives.” “I think there’s so much out there about the mob and it’s so glorified. I just thought it was time to bring people behind closed doors and see what the families go through.”

Gravano is daughter of legendary, organized-crime informant Sammy “The Bull” Gravano, who is serving 19 years in prison. The series follows the daily lives of her and three others; Renee Graziano, D’rita D’Avanzo and Carla Facciolo, all single mothers — with either husbands or fathers in jail for mob-related crimes — who appeared this morning on “Good Morning America.”

D’Avanzo is a mother of two and wife of Lee D’Avanzo, who’s serving time for bank robbery for the second time. Facciolo is also a mother of two. Her husband, Joey Ferragamo, is serving 88 months for stock fraud. “When you’re a single mom trying to do everything, it’s hard,” Facciolo said.

D’Avanzo said her friends in Staten Island, N.Y., are not happy about the show. “It seems to me they feel like we’re representing somehow. That’s insane. I don’t get that,” she said, added that there were single mothers watching who could relate to their situation.

A mother of one, Graziano is the daughter of the former consigliore of the Bonanno crime family, Anthony Graziano. Her father is serving 11 years in prison. “Bringing cameras into my home was probably the biggest step I took … to see what it feels like to have your life taken apart,” Graziano said.

She wanted people to see them as wonderful women with hardships, she said, while not looking for sympathy. “We’re regular people, and I wanted people to know it,” she said.

But true to the reality-TV form, the show is not without tense moments. One scene showed Gravano confronting Graziano outside a restaurant of the former’s father. Gravano’s father was an informant for the FBI and turned state’s evidence.

Gravano said they needed to address “family issues” so she confronted Graziano directly.

“You have a problem because of who my father is … because you’re just a weak-minded individual?” Gravano said to Graziano.

When asked on “Good Morning America” if she approved of what Gravano’s father did, Graziano said, “I will say that I do not agree with anyone, whether it be my son or someone in school or a grown-up, telling on another person.”

Pressed on whether she approved of turning evidence is certain situations, Graziano jokingly “pleaded the Fifth.”

Gravano said, “At the end of the day, these are our fathers. I’m going to ride with my father till the grave because that’s my father.”

The stars agreed, though, that they shared a bond and, although they fight, they can work through it. “We can fight with each other,” Facciolo said, “but if somebody else comes in our circle, that’s not good.”
