Singer Amy Winehouse Body Is Removed From Her Home Following Her Death

23 Jul

A body, believed to be that of singer Amy Winehouse, is removed from her home following her death, in north London, Saturday, July 23, 2011.

Amy Winehouse, one of the most talented singers of her generation whose hit song “Rehab” summed up her struggles with addiction, died in London on Saturday at the age of 27.

The Grammy winner, famed for her black beehive hair, soulful voice and erratic behaviour on and off stage, was found dead at her new home in Camden a month after a shambolic performance in Serbia forced her to cancel her entire European tour.

Police were called to the address at around 1500 GMT and nearly five hours later the body was removed for a post mortem after it appeared she had lost her battle with drink and drugs.

“Inquiries continue into the circumstances of the death,” said police superintendent Raj Kohli. “At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained and there have been no arrests in connection with the incident.”

He said reports that Winehouse had died of a suspected drugs overdose were speculation at this stage.

Family members had long warned that Winehouse’s lifestyle, which saw her in and out of rehab and blighted her career as a live and recording artist, could be her downfall.

Her last filmed performance was in Serbia in June, when Winehouse was jeered by the crowd as she struggled to perform her songs and stay upright. On some tunes, the audience did most of the singing.

The gig, posted on the YouTube video sharing site, prompted her management to cancel all scheduled performances and give the performer as long as it took to recover.

Winehouse’s record label Universal said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer. Our prayers go out to Amy’s family, friends and fans at this difficult time.”

Around 50 shocked fans and onlookers as well as camera crews and photographers gathered behind police tape blocking off the leafy street where Winehouse had just moved into a new house.

A few left flowers, candles and a teddy bear. One note of condolence read: “Beautiful Amy, night night, sleep tight.”

The British singer was discovered by soul singer Tyler James at the age of 16 and in 2003 her debut album “Frank” was released, to general acclaim.

Her second album “Back to Black” was released in October 2006 and reached the No. 1 spot in Britain and earned her five Grammy awards, pop music’s equivalent of the Oscars.

The album produced a string of memorable tunes, including “You Know I’m No Good,” “Love Is a Losing Game” and “Rehab,” which contained the line: “They tried to make me go to rehab. I said ‘no, no, no.'”

Born on September 14, 1983, to a Jewish family with a history of jazz musicians, Winehouse’s personal life has filled Britain’s tabloid newspapers.

Winehouse was photographed wandering the streets of London barefoot and in only a bra and jeans in 2007 looking confused, the same year she married Blake Fielder-Civil who spent time in prison for beating up a pub landlord. They divorced in 2009.

In 2008, the singer’s father Mitch said she had developed the lung condition emphysema and warned it could kill her if she continued to smoke drugs.

Mitch, a taxi driver who launched his own musical career on the back of his daughter’s success, was in New York when the news broke. British media said he was on his way back to London.

Tributes poured in for an artist whose personal troubles stole the headlines in recent years and thwarted plans for an eagerly-anticipated third album.

Soccer star and celebrity David Beckham told Sky News: “It’s very sad, she was such a talented girl, and a girl with such a huge future. Our hearts go out to her family, her loved ones.”

Sarah Brown, wife of former prime minister Gordon Brown, tweeted: “sad sad news of Amy Winehouse – great talent, extraordinary voice, and tragic death, condolences to her family.”

Kelly Osbourne, a singer and television personality, also took to the micro blogging site, writing: “i cant even breath right now im crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. i love you forever Amy & will never forget the real you!”

The Recording Academy in the United States praised the singer, who brought elements of jazz and Motown back into the musical mainstream.

“Her rich, soulful and unique voice reflected her honest songwriting and earned her a devoted fan following, critical acclaim, and the genuine respect and admiration of her musical peers,” said its president Neil Portnow.

Broadcaster and radio DJ Paul Gambaccini said Winehouse’s early death was sadly no surprise.

“We have been dreading this news for some time, hoping against hope that she would turn herself around, but she showed no evidence of being able to do so,” he told BBC TV.

“She just could not control herself. It’s tragic because both (her) albums were superb. We have 40 years of Frank Sinatra records, it turns out we only have two Amy Winehouse records.”

Daniel Rossellat, founder of the Paleo Festival in Nyon, Switzerland, where Winehouse had been due to perform before withdrawing from the tour, likened her to Janis Joplin, another gifted singer who died at the age of 27.

“It is the tragic end to a wonderful voice, similar to Janis Joplin both in destiny and in voice,” he told Swiss television.

Singer Billy Bragg wrote on his Twitter page that Winehouse joined not only Joplin but also Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain — who all died at the same age. Source

Nick Lachey has married Vanessa Minnillo in an intimate ceremony on a tropical island.

Nick Lachey has married Vanessa Minnillo.

The couple – who have been dating since 2006 – tied the knot in front of just 35 friends and family in a romantic tropical island ceremony today (15.07.11).

TV host Vanessa – who wore a two-piece Monique Lhuillier ensemble – told People magazine: “For us, this is just a stepping stone to do what we ultimately want and that’s to start a family together.”

Speaking about the nuptials, singer Nick added: “Our wedding invitations were in the form of a plane ticket. We told them they were going away and the attire was ‘island chic.’ It was all very vague.”

Following the announcement of their engagement last year, Nick – who was formerly married to Jessica Simpson – said they were taking their time at planning the wedding.

He said: “We’re still basking in the glow of our very recent engagement and enjoying that. I’m sure we’ll get on with the planning and what-not shortly, but we’re just enjoying this experience.

“We’re very excited. We’re obviously extremely happy and looking forward to everything that the future brings for us, so we are very excited and just enjoying the moment.”

Britney Spears Has Released A Sample Of New Song I Wanna Go On Twitter

20 Jun

Britney Spears has released a 20-second snippet of a new song, “I Wanna Go,” on Twitter today (Feb. 22), two days after she previewed 10 seconds of another new track, “Inside Out.” Along with first single “Hold It Against Me,” the two songs are set to appear on the pop star’s seventh full-length, “Femme Fatale,” due out Mar. 29.

Produced by Max Martin and Shellback, “I Wanna Go” sounds like another synth-heavy dance track buoyed by a whistled melody. In the 20-second preview, a slow build allows the beat to steadily increase before dropping out as Spears sings in a staccato, “I-I-I wanna go-o-o all the way-ay-ay.”

“Femme Fatale” executive producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald originally posted a link to the “I Wanna Go” preview on Twitter earlier today, and Spears posted it soon after and called Martin “amazing.” Along with Dr. Luke, Martin, Shellback and producer Billboard, Spears has been in the studio with Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am, who wrote that he and the pop star had recorded a new song for “Femme Fatale” together on Twitter last Thursday (Feb. 17).

Although a second official single for “Femme Fatale” has yet to be chosen, “Hold It Against Me” is still going strong: the song remains at No. 10 on this week’s Hot 100, and the official music video has earned over 10 million views on Spears’ VEVO channel since debuting last Thursday.

Summary: Britney Spears is kicking some serious paparazzi ass in a sneak preview of her new video for her new single, “I Wanna Go.”

The short teaser clip for the latest offering off of Brit’s album, Femme Fatale, shows the pop diva, sporting black and pink streaks in her blonde locks, standing on top of a yellow cab and using a microphone as her weapon of choice to take out the annoying photogs.

Feel no shame in taking a gander at the preview below and stay tuned for the full video to premiere on Wednesday, June 22.

Singer Lady Gaga Went Bankrupt Over Outfits For Monster Ball Tour

3 Jun

Singer Lady Gaga has claimed that she went bankrupt during The Monster Ball Tour because she spent too much money on outfits for the show.

In an interview with Stephen Fry for the Financial Times, the Judas hitmaker says that at one point she was $3m [£1.82m] in debt – despite having had five No. 1 singles.

Gaga, 25, said: ‘I put everything in the show, and I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of the Monster Ball. And it was funny because I didn’t know! And I remember I called everybody and said, ‘Why is everyone saying I have no money? This is ridiculous, I have five No. 1 singles’ – and they said, ‘Well, you’re $3m in debt.”

The tour, which ended last month, was seen by 2.5m people and finally managed to rake in £138m.

Whitney Houston In Serious Battle With Deadly Emphysemia?!

2 Jun

Just weeks after Whitney Houston went back into rehab for drug and alcohol abuse, the National Enquirer reports that she’s fighting another serious battle: with emphysema. According to the tabloid, the 47-year-old singer is in the early stages of the lung disease and has been told by doctors that she must quit smoking immediately.

“She’s developed emphysema — and her doctors are warning her she’ll die a horrible death,” says the Enquirer’s source.

Reportedly, the responsibility for restoring Houston’s health has fallen on her 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina — who is just out of rehab herself. Poor kid.

It’s hard to say if The National Enquirer is a reliable source, since they have a bit of a hit-or-miss record. (Their most notable hit: breaking the news of the John Edwards-Rielle Hunter affair.) But the emphysema diagnosis would explain Whitney’s recent series of “respiratory infections,” as well as the shortness of breath she’s exhibited during her comeback tour.

If Houston does have emphysema, her comeback may have to come to an abrupt end: The condition is long-term and incurable, and would make it difficult for Houston to exert herself in any way (which we’d imagine would include belting out “I Will Always Love You”).

The real tragedy is that someone blessed with Houston’s singing voice would become a heavy smoker in the first place. The voice is a fragile instrument, and we hear all the time about singers struggling to keep theirs healthy. Adele has postponed her U.S. tour dates due to laryngitis, and Shania Twain admitted last month that she lost her voice to a condition called dysphonia, probably brought on by stress. We can only hope that other aspiring singers learn from Houston’s mistakes, and don’t squander their talents for any kind of addiction.

Le Ann Rimes Shows Off A More Skinnier Body In A Tight Dress

19 May

Photo/ Splash News

LeAnn Rimes was spotted out on the town with husband Eddie Cibrian last night after attending an NBC Upfronts after-paty in New York City and we have to ask, does the singer look like she’s lost even more weight?

The newlyweds, who had an extra-marital affair after meeting on the set of Northern Lights, reportedly couldn’t keep their hands off each other at the NBC party at Del Posto in New York on Monday night, much to the disgust of other guests.

A source told Us Magazine, ‘[They were] making out in the middle of [everything].

‘[Rimes was] making a compete scene and holding up her camera as they are making out so she [could] take pictures of them making out – it was unreal.’

‘We were like, ‘Who the hell is that?’ And of course it was them. It was so beyond ridiculous.’
