The Kardashian Sister’s Recently Collaborated On A ‘Kollection’ For US Store Sears

27 Sep

The Kardashians are one clan who are closer than your average siblings. They share their lives, their jobs and now, their wardrobes. Is it time for a bit of sibling rivalry in the family?

Kim, Khloe and Kourtney recently collaborated on a ‘Kollection‘ for US store Sears, and it seems the sisters have decided the best way to gain publicity for the brand is to, well, wear it themselves.

All three socialite sisters have been seen out in at least two outfits from their new Kollection, the first being a lace look compromising a long-sleeved lace top with an oversized silky pussybow teamed with a silky lace-edged skirt.

Kourtney chose to wear the nude version to the launch party of the Kardashian Kollection in LA. Looking lady-like, she added black T-bar heels and swept her locks up. Khloe also went for the demure nude coloring, and also chose black heels, but left her locks natural and flowing and swapped the black bow for a slinky champagne color.

Kim was the odd one out here, opting for the dramatic ensemble in black and adding a dash of color with a green bag and snakeskin heels.

Alice Temperley’s timeless, feminine designs combine meticulous detail and embellishments with an English eccentricity and personality drawing on everything British; Temperley is the modern day ‘Cool Britannia’.

Following the success of the launch collection in 2000 at London Fashion Week, the first Temperley London boutique opened in 2001 on Colville Mews in Notting Hill, London where the head office and design rooms are still situated.

This year sees the first year anniversary of ALICE by Temperley, a contemporary sister line created to fulfill a need for an everyday Temperley look in a more accessible market.

  • Bridal has grown to be an important part of the Temperley offering after the first bridal dresses were created following Alice’s own wedding to Lars Von Bennigsen, the CEO of Temperley Ltd, in 2002. There are now exclusive Bridal Salons in the London Mews and Los Angeles, Melrose Avenue stores with a full bridal collection of bespoke, made-to-order and current collection pieces, for private appointments only.

ALICE by Temperley has been worn by a range of fans including Emma Watson, Jessica Biel, Beyonce, Rihanna and Dakota Fanning.

  • While constantly being expanded in breadth, the House of Temperley always stays true to its philosophy; appreciating what women want with creations that exist outside of the trend of the moment and always flavoured with a sense of Alice’s individual ‘magpie’ style.

The World of Temperley and its design philosophy is set to extend its influence, transforming it from one of Britain’s leading luxury brands to an all-encompassing lifestyle.

Fashion Show: Shop Dolce Gabbana Summer Collection 2012 Online ‘Must Haves’

If you could distil the D&G SS12 Womens wear show what essence would you get? Foulard’s. These traditional, sometimes oldy-worldly accessories have been totally reinvented by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and have become sexy and relevant once again.

The D&G collection for SS 12 is a real plethora of prints. From geometric to heraldic, from baroque to naïf, passing by polka dolts and stripes, the foulard, in its many forms has been adopted by the design duo and reinvented for 2012. With the idea of deconstructing the typically bourgeois silk handkerchief and challenging its traditional use, Dolce and Gabbana have created a significant collection with strong cultural overtones.

Taking the foulard in its purest form, (each swatch measures the traditional 70x70cm), as the foundation of the collection, the Italian design duo have created a visual feast. Unlike previous collections where mix and matching were at their centre, this season the effect is less like patchwork and more about actually tying together multiple handkerchiefs, lending it a more cerebral feel. Details like folds and knots take the collection away from the banal, giving it a fresh angle.

Worthy of particular mention are the sky-high platform wedges. The upper is made of an entire foulard; 70×70, which tied around the foot becomes a silky, light as a feather peep toe bootie. In contrast, the wedge is made of wood and is printed with a different style.  Dolce Gabbana.IT

NYFWK: Rachel Zoe RTW Spring 2012 – Brigitte Bardot Inspired Collection

15 Sep

After years of attending fashion week as a stylist, Rachel Zoe found herself on the other side of the coin with her very own slot on the calendar this season.

On Monday she staged her first presentation, 30 looks that she said were inspired by Brigitte Bardot when she was dating Serge Gainsbourg. That was clear in the sheer white tie-neck blouse and high-waisted palazzo pants (which Zoe was wearing in black), leopard prints and a vaguely retro khaki cargo coat and matching shorts, but at this point Zoe’s own look is probably as well known as Bardot’s.

The gauzy Seventies dresses, jumpsuits and long, flared-leg trousers that are Zoe signatures were there, too, styled to a T with her shoe and bag collection.

The skeptics out there were no doubt wondering if the world needs another celebrity-branded collection. Probably not, but Zoe’s clothes are just as good as — and, in many cases, better than — her competition’s. Stores want items that sell and Zoe’s got a name on her door that millions of loyal, fashion-loving viewers know.

Victoria Beckham Debut’s Her Spring 2012 Collection At New York Fashion Week

14 Sep

Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2012 collection at New York fashion week included high-energy navy-and-orange combinations that were a departure for the designer. Photograph: Peter Michael Dills/Getty

The timing of Victoria Beckham‘s catwalk show at New York fashion week on Sunday was undeniably awkward. The scheduled start of 10am allocated to Beckham by the organisers saw her Spring 2012 collection take to the catwalk while Barack Obama was leading the nation in remembrance at the World Trade Centre site.

However, the potential for upset was elegantly avoided. Attendees were instructed to arrive early, so that the silences at 9.59am and 10.03am could be properly respected.

The show marked a gear change for Beckham’s feted second career as a designer. Figure-flattering, modern-ladylike, cleverly constructed dresses have been the heart of her brand since her first collection, and were still there – but the focus was pulled back to include a wider range of looks: oversized parka-style jackets, looser pieces, and utility detailing.

The staging of the show also reflected a move away from the tight focus on a singular look. Previously, Beckham had staged small-scale presentations of her collections, which she talked through in person. Her shows were held first in a hotel room, then in recent seasons in a private townhouse. This show was in the New York public library and soundtracked by loud music, and marked a leap in scale which seemed to display a new confidence.

The change in direction may also be designed to cede some space in the limelight to Beckham’s new lower-priced line, Victoria by Victoria Beckham, which she will launch on Monday. The few pieces that have so far been seen from the Victoria line have had a “cocktail dress” look.

Stretch fabrics, exposed zips, flat shoes and high-energy navy-and-orange colour combinations suggested Beckham had finally succumbed to the appeal of the sporty Californian lifestyle. When she arrived in LA, she was teased for wearing high heels to throw the first pitch at a Los Angeles Dodgers game – to which she replied: “I hate working out. Maybe it’s the whole getting sweaty thing, but it’s just not me.”

Yesterday she described her working method as “like juggling glass balls” and said the arrival of baby daughter Harper two months ago was a blessing in disguise for the collection, “because it made us very focused, and that influenced the collection”.

Handbags, a recent addition to the label, were prominent on the catwalk. The signature Victoria bag has been, the designer said, “squished up, to make it practical and looser”. The result on the catwalk was a chic, two-tone handbag with a sleek, understated feel, which falls in line with the minimalist diktats of recent Paris fashion weeks.

Designer Betsey Johnson Spring 2012 Fashion Show Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

13 Sep

Betsey Johnson has never been one to follow trends and her spring 2012 collection was no exception. While many designers are leaning towards textured tops and mid-length skirts, Betsey chose sheers and loosely flowing bottoms, which were a pleasant divergence from her typical bubble and tulle skirts.

The sheer was, assumedly, to showcase her newly-blossoming lingerie line, to which she featured in her final walk , having the panty-clad models carrying A and T balloons (which stand for A Tisket, the lingerie line).

Betsey complimented her ultra-feminine style with ultra-high platform stiletto heels (giving a few of the models a run for their money). The collection was filled with Betsey’s go-to patterns like floral, cheetah print, and skulls, printed onto full-length skirts, wide leg pants and harem-style rompers. And, of course, Betsey’s fabulous line was not the sole entertainment of the night. Surprising audience members, Betsey danced down the runway, skipping up and down as the models took their final walk. At the end of the night, Betsey Johnson entertained.

Designer Cynthia Rowley Spring 2012 Fashion Show During Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

13 Sep

Cynthia Rowley is over the understated muse the fashion world rallied behind during the recession. She’s ready for flash — and flowers.

The collection she presented Friday on a full-on mirrored runway at New York Fashion Week was about “the optical exuberance of gold,” Rowley said in her notes. She threw in “flash mobs of florals and animated shapes.”

The outfits certainly had spunk; no shrinking violet is going to wear an Asian-inspired “bouquet” tuxedo jacket with second-skin leggings in a zigzag print.

From there, Rowley moved on to a mesh leather T-shirt with tight, tiny trunks, and a metallic sweater with gold shorts adorned with black appliques.

Rowley seemed to tap into her personal interest in surfing, pairing embroidered swim trunks with an orange T that had perforated leather sleeves.

Some looks had more of a balance of boldness and wearability, including a botanical-print dress with a henley-style neckline, and a gray sweatshirt-style top worn with a black skirt that teased the crowd of editors, stylists and retailers at the Lincoln Center tents with a printed lining that would peek out as the model walked the runway.

Dressier outfits included the finale, dubbed “a forced perspective dress,” which featured a short-yet-full — and flirty — A-line bottom.

Lindsay Lohan, wearing big sunglasses, sparkly high heels and a brand new outfit from Rowley, nodded approvingly throughout the show.
