Slurping down empty calories is one of the easiest ways to derail a healthy eating plan. But beverages can also play a positive role in your smart snacking strategy. Instead of turning to fat- and sugar-laden sweets when a craving hits, try one of these natural drinks, slushies, or smoothies, perfect for sipping on the go.

This recipe makes a refreshing and nutritious snack — especially once you swirl in fresh fruit. Makes 4 shakes (188 calories each).

Soft silken tofu provides the best results for this drink. If you only have firm or extra-firm silken tofu on hand, however, you can add as much as a quarter cup of extra soy milk to achieve the desired consistency. To reduce the fat, use the lite variety.

You also can try substituting blueberries or raspberries for the strawberries, or you can experiment with other soft fruits like mangos and peaches.

This shake stores well in the refrigerator for up to three days.

Ingredients

Serves 4

  • 1 package (10 ounces) frozen, unsweetened strawberries, thawed
  • 1 cup plain soymilk
  • 1 small ripe banana, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 package (12 ounces) silken tofu, soft, drained
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  1. In a blender, puree berries until smooth. Remove, and rinse blender.
  2. Combine the remaining ingredients in the blender.
  3. Puree until smooth and thoroughly mixed, scraping down sides with rubber spatula as necessary.
  4. Divide among glasses and spoon strawberry puree on one side of each glass. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator. If refrigerating, whisk to recombine just before serving.

Follow Up: Kristie Tunick Is Said To Have Scammed Us All!!!!

So everyone probably knows of Kristie Tunick,she contacted Kandee saying that she was in need of help because she had an unknown illness.

She said that she was in financial debt and all the medical insurance had given up on her. She said she only had 3 weeks left to live and she pled for Kandee’s help.

With a big and caring heart, Kandee decided to make a video to get people’s attention and help Kristie by passing it on so medical help can get to Kristie.

But then afterward’s, Kristie contacted Kandee again saying that Kandee was a liar about her illness and that she was going to sue Kandee.

Kristie and her fiance Brian, set the whole thing up so they can receive donations and media publicity. They refused all medical help but accepted donations.

After their scam was open to the public, they took down all the ‘carepages’ and even deactivated the facebook fan page.

Brain also has a criminal record for drug abuse. They left a nasty message to Kandee.

People like this are what makes the world a horrible place.

Summary: Now that you all are made very well aware this is a scam. Please show no more support to this story. I will not waist anymore time on this story period! There are people out there that can use real attention and help for this to be scam is so sad and disgusting to me. Really makes me sick to my stomach.

Now it makes sense why 20/20 has not did a follow up story like they said they would. I am sure they found this to be scam after their first television interview with 20/20.

Here is the link to the 20/20 story themselves for those that are curious where this actually started please go to the 20/20 website.  They reached out to a beauty guru named Kandee Johnson.  She is a make up artist who has a huge make up fan base on Youtube.  Kristie and her husband used Kandee Johnson to get ton of people to help her and send her money and actually said no to health care and just wanted the money.

The photos do show a sick Kristie Tunick that is not a lie. However to say you only have three weeks to live and that’s sure not the case is a scam! To play into her illness shows she has way more then her disease sounds like mental illness to me!

Whether you realize it or not, loss of identity occurs to many stay-at-home moms. Their entire lives are centered around taking care of everyone’s needs, sometimes twenty-four hours a day because time clocks do not exist in this job.

I share with you my personal experience of how one can lose themselves. As well as share with you how to gain that power back into your life that existed before kids, and marriage. By taking the blinder’s off. You can see the truth of your life. How it’s unfolded.

Losing yourself to make others happy is true falseness with oneself. Stop being controlling and coming up with the excuses no one does it better then you. The more you take control the more out of control your life becomes. The more overwhelmed you begin to get as time goes on living this way.

Learn to gain power back over your life. So that you can live the life that you truly dream t of as a kid as well as have a life of complete fulfillment.

You deserve to be happy like everyone else! Ask yourself the question are you happy!?

If your exhausted from being the best cheerleader for everyone in your life. Nothing to yourself. You need to get the control back into your life. So that you can be happy again and have the fulfillment we all desire in life.

So please watch my video. I share with you my brief life experience of how everyone has been more important to me. I am everything to everyone else and was nothing to myself.

I of course no longer feel this way. I learned to take control and spread my time more reasonably. I know no matter what I am a good person. That alone is enough for me.

Losing A Loved One: Coping With Death Of A Loved One

Everyone has to deal with the death of a loved one at various times throughout life. It is one of the conditions that is commonly faced without training or education.

The loss of a loved one is made especially difficult to confront because we live in a death denying culture. Here are 10 things you can do as part of your journey through grief that have worked for others through the years and they can work for you.

1. Find someone you trust to talk about how the death is affecting you. Don’t keep your feelings to yourself and increase the stress you are already under.

2. Be willing to listen and be open to others who have experienced similar losses and how they have dealt with them. Choose those ideas that you feel are appropriate for your use and let the rest go. Much can be learned from others who have been there and done that.

3. Practice taking your attention off your sadness and focusing on a diversion like a pleasant memory of your loved one, gratitude for all that you still have, or any topic of interest. In changing your attention it will help if you walk to another room or perform some other physical task. Switching attention is a critical life-long skill to develop.

4. Allow yourself to express your emotions. Crying is a normal human response to loss. It has a purpose: helping you cope with loss through emotional and physical release. If you can’t cry, write, paint, or draw what you are feeling.

5. Begin your new routines. With the absence of your loved one, you will have new tasks to fulfill. It’s a new life. Perhaps grocery shopping, caring for your home, car, or apartment, maybe even eating at a different time, will be different. Establishing these new routines early on is important in your grief work.

6. Trust mystery and the unseen. Many so called coincidences and synchronicities, and in some cases, special helping dreams and visions may occur. Look for them. Ask for them. They will come. They are normal. I tell every client I work with that there is nothing wrong with praying for a sign that your loved one is okay.

7. Take a daily stress break. For at least 20 minutes each day, find a quiet place, recline, and put your feet up to rest. Listen to music or the sounds of nature.

8. Discover and grieve your associated losses. For every major loss there are usually a number of secondary losses. They could be financial or have to do with meaning, transportation, companionship, dreams of the future, sex, social interaction and more, all of which are now altered. Some secondary losses will not occur for years (a graduation, anniversary, etc.). Determine these losses, talk about them, and grieve them.

9. Start looking for ways to help others even as you grieve. This ancient piece of wisdom is well founded because by seeking to give of your time and treasure to others you are taking the focus off of yourself. Your love will heal and be returned.

10. Replenish your spiritual beliefs. Many mourners find comfort in prayer and being alone in nature to speak with their creator. Nature is great therapy and thinking of your faith and values in a beautiful setting can bring comfort, new awareness, and solace. It has long been known that the more you focus on a particular thing you create more of it. Create new insights from your spiritual beliefs and how you will allow them a more prominent place in your recovery process.

We all experienced a loss at one point in our lives. Sharing my personal experience of what it was like to lose the greatest thing on earth on a important day as the birth of my son! His birthday!
