Glee Actress Lea Michele On The Cover Of Allure December 2011 Issue

Lea Michele: Her Allure Photo Shoot

Lea Michele bares it all: the Glee rumors, what it was like to strip down on stage, and why she’s proud to be a diva. Check out these exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from her cover shoot with Norman Jean Roy. For more of our interview with the star, pick up the December issue of Allure, on newsstands November 22. For more exclusives, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

Michele is confident in her unconventional beauty. “Have I been asked to change anything? Uh-huh. Uh-huh. When I was 15, my mother and I went to meet a manager who said, ‘You have to get a nose job in order for me to work with you,'” Michele tells us. “My mother would say to me, ‘Barbra Streisand never got a nose job. You’re not getting a nose job.’ And this was before I really even knew who Barbra was. I just knew that she was, like, the messiah for girls like me.”

Michele has heard the stories of her diva-like behavior. At a Time magazine party, when a photographer asked who she was, she reportedly replied, “Sarah Palin”—a remark that was taken to be a snotty “Don’t you know who I am?” “I was being silly,” Michele says. “But anyway, that’s a huge thing I learned…. Not everybody knows you and has the same sense of humor. At the same time, if I couldn’t be myself, I’d lose my mind.”

“I came from the theater world, where the word ‘diva’ was awesome,” she continues. “But it’s different in Los Angeles. And this all happened to me so quickly. But I came to L.A., and the first audition I went on was for Glee. And I was on the show two months later and had a very different life.” Here, Michele poses in a lace-and-silk-satin bra by Agent Provocateur and Norma Kamali briefs.

Like many young actresses in the spotlight, Michele became the subject of eating-disorder rumors when she suddenly looked very thin during the summer of 2010. Not so, she says—the weight loss was due to a surgery she had because of an infection in her jaw. “I’m half Italian,” says the actress. “I can eat some bitches under the table.” Polyamide elastane bra by Stella McCartney. How to achieve Lea Michele’s look- Celebrity Beauty Fashion Trend: Winged Eyeliner

Here are a few tips:

1.) Fill in your brows, no sexy eye is complete without a nice thick brow

2.) Find a good liquid or cream liner. Use a small pointed brush or a pointed eyeliner pencil or pen.  Also, by using a black eyeshadow to start the wing off before using the eyeliner. Starting your liner at the corner of the eyelid extending it outward to the corner of your eye ending it with a wing out movement.  Then go back over the eyeshadow with a liquid eyeliner to seal in the look.

3.) Dramatic eyes call for a nude lip. Keep it classy and sassy. Keeping lips simple and putting  focus only on the eyes not the mouth.

4.) Curling large sections of your hair with a small barrel curling iron,  then comb lightly comb the curls out and spray with a light hairspray. To avoid frizzy curls finish off the look with some shine serum or shine spray of your choice.

Fun Trend This Season The Art Of Layering Bracelets Seen At New York Fashion Week

16 Sep

When it comes to jewelry here at New York Fashion Week, more is more. Front rowers are layering up their wrists with five or six bracelets at a time. The key to the perfect stack? It’s fashionmatics! Just take one chunky watch, add some Eddie Borgo spikes, throw in a few friendship bracelets and you’re good to go.

A fun trend to try this season is the art of layering bracelets. The key to making this look work with your outfit is to choose a color in your outfit you want to highlight. So if you’re wearing mostly casual neutral/beige hues, you’ll probably want to steer more towards earthy tones. Earthy tone accessories also go well with corals, orange, yellow, brown, grey, denim and any prints that consist of any of the above colors. Try mixing and matching different materials like leather, enamel, metal and rope.

If your outfit consists of bolder colors, like red, pink, blue or black, you may want to consider more silver or gunmetal tone pieces.

The trendy way to layer bracelets is to layer with a watch (or two) from the same color family, along with a couple statement rings.

To add some more interest, try painting your nails in a funky color, like a matte creamy seafoam or pastel yellow. Have fun with it!

Beauty tips to slim your face

Contouring and highlighting your face can bring out your cheek bones, shorten your nose, slim your face and rid you of a double chin. Here’s how to do it …1.“Think of your face as a canvas,” explains Thomas. Once you’ve applied foundation to even out your complexion you need to shade and highlight areas to create shape. Think of the principles of light and dark — any areas made darker will appear as though they’re receding, and anything made lighter appear as though it’s coming forward.2.“I think the easiest product to use is a bronzing powder without too much shimmer,” explains Thomas. Always start with a little on your brush and build it up gradually.3.Begin by building your cheek bones. To do this, add a little bronzer below your cheek bone, from the hairline to towards the apples of your cheek, in a wedge-like shape. This trick is especially good for women who have very round faces. “[Contouring is] all about reshaping your face and giving it sharper edges — you can never have too-high cheek bones,” says Thomas.4. To make a wide or very round forehead appear narrower, shade just the temples or sides of the forehead, and to slim a wide nose, apply the bronzer down the sides of your nose. Want your nose to appear shorter? Shade the underside of the tip.

5. Disguise a double chin by shading the area under your jaw line. Blending is key in contouring your face — the idea is that you can’t see where the contouring starts and stops.

6. If you don’t have deep-set eyes (ie lids that are still visible when your eyes are open), make them pop by shading along the crease line. Do this either with the bronzer or an eyeshadow that’s a shade darker than the colour you’ll wear.

7. To bring areas of your face forward, thus emphasising them, do the opposite to contouring and use a highlighter (most likely a shimmery powder a bit lighter than your skin colour). The areas you want to do this to are your new-found cheek bones, and the centre of your eyelids. When it comes to your lips, dab a lighter lip shade or illuminating cream just in the middle of them.

Contouring and highlighting your face can take a little practice, but as Thomas says, “Once you start, you’ll want to do it every day.” His tip: try it next time you have a big event coming up and take note of how you look in photos taken on the day. “People in film, TV and pictures can’t live without [this trick].”

NB: You don’t have to use a bronzer and highlighter to do this make-up trick — darker and lighter foundations can be used as well.

Jennifer Aniston started a hairstyle hysteria with “The Rachel”. Since then, millions of women have flocked to salons with her photo in hand. Straight or wavy, short or long, Jennifer Aniston’s famous tresses continue to set trends. Find out how Jen gets those golden sun-kissed locks. Learn how to create her free-flowing curls and and her sleek, sexy look.

You will need

* 1 blow dryer with diffuser

* 1 volumizing nousse (if your hair is fine)

* 1 curling iron

* 1 flat, paddle brush

* 1 blow dryer

* 1 comb

* 1 flat iron

* 1 shine serum

* 1 hairspray (optional)

1.

Step 1: The Color

Jennifer Aniston’s sun-kissed hair color is her signature statement; her style is quite simple. Golden highlights brighten her brunette hair, while beach blonde streaks frame her face. If your hair is a dark blonde to medium brown, you’ve got the perfect base for Jen’s color; simply add a few highlights or a gloss for shine. If yours is a medium brown or darker, you’ll need to lighten your base to a golden brown and then add blonde highlights on top of that.

2.

Step 2: Making Waves

To create Jennifer Aniston’s waves, you’ll need a blow dryer with a diffuser. If your hair is fine, apply volumizing mousse to your hair before blow drying. Using the diffuser, scrunch your hair from the roots to the ends. Hold the blow dryer in place for about five seconds, then remove. You should see waves beginning to form. Continue to work the diffuser through the hair moving toward the crown, until the hair is dry.

3.

Step 3: Defining The Curl

Jennifer Aniston’s hair is full of free-flowing curls. To get this look, use a curling iron with a barrel of an inch to two inches. Hold the curling iron at an angle. Starting about an inch from the ends of the hair, wrap the hair around the barrel, away from the face. Leaving the ends of the hair out of the barrel creates a more natural curl, not a tight ringlet.

4.

Step 4: Loosen Up

America’s favorite friend never looks like she’s trying too hard. Run your hands under your hair and gently tousle the hair at the root. Now you’ve got a look that’s California-chic, just like Jennifer Aniston.

5.

Step 5: Change It Up

What makes Jennifer Aniston’s long layered hair so great is its versatility. She easily transitions from tousled, wavy bed-head to sleek, straight and polished. To get Jen’s straight look, begin by blow drying your hair with a flat paddle brush. Hold the blow dryer at an angle above the brush, as you pull the hair down and away from your scalp. Do not bend the hair with the brush or curl it under, pull the hair straight down.

6.

Step 6: Check Your Layers

When you’re going for a sleek, polished look, you can’t afford split ends or stray hairs. Jennifer Aniston keeps her face framing layers on the A-list with regular trims. Keep your layers clean with trims every two to three months.

7.

Step 7: Flat Iron Finish

Flat iron your hair section by section. Run a comb through your hair, following with the flat iron. This will rid your hair of any knots that could catch in the straightener and damage your hair.

8.

Step 8: Shine & Hold

Celebrities like Jennifer Aniston have stylists who know how to perfect hair with products. Here are two great tricks. Place a bit of shine serum or spray on your hands, then run your palms over the ends of your hair for a brilliant, smooth finish. Then calm any flyaway hairs with this trick – coat your hands well with hairspray, and press down the flyaway hairs. You’ll have sleek hair without stiffness.

Elf Cosmetics Look For Less Featuring Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham

12 Jul

Over the weekend, the ALWAYS glamorous Victoria Beckham gave birth to a baby girl, Harper.

In celebration of the Beckham’s new addition, today Posh is our Look for Less!

Start by applying the e.l.f. Studio Mineral Primer. Apply the e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation with the stipple brush.

Apply the Tone Correcting Concealer in one shade lighter than your foundation, a trick I use to if dot it along the bone directly under the eye and then blend it.

Use the Kabuki Brush to set the foundation and to create a photo ready finish.

On the cheeks use the Studio Angled Blush Brush to apply the Studio Blush in Tickled Pink.

On the eyes, start by using your index finger to put a base of the Studio Cream Eyeshadow in Smoke on the lid, do it lightly so that it’s not a total black out on your lid.

To create depth use the Contour Eyeshadow Brush to apply the Studio Eyeshadow in Charcoal on the outer crease, winging up.

To line the eyes use the Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black, lining from inner to outer corner on both the bottom and top lash line liberally, don’t feel confined to the natural lash line this; Victoria’s line are very thick.

Go over the lines with the Smudge Brush “dipped” in the Studio Pigment Eyshadow in Naughty Noire.

On the lashes use the e.l.f. Waterproof Lengthening and Defining Mascara.

On the lips use the Essential Lipstick in Nostalgic. You’ll have your very own David Beckham in no time! ;-)
