Hair Trend Photos: 14 Different Ways To Wear Your Hair To The Gym

23 Jun

Side Braid: Lala Vasquez

If you have incredibly long hair, a side braid can help keep everything under control. After your gym session, undo the braid to reveal gorgeous, soft curls.

Ponytail with a Poof: Kim Kardashian

Whether your hair is long or short, a classic ponytail will never go out of style. Don’t forget to give the top of your head a little poof for emphasis—and to avoid that not-so-sleek sweaty look.

Tight Ponytail: Emma Roberts

A tight ponytail is a favorite for gym goers. Keep the hairstyle really neat by running over your head with a toothbrush! Its bristles will keep flyaways in check.

Loose Ponytail with Layers: Julianne Hough

Keep the rest of your mane flowing in a loose ponytail. This hairstyle works best for girls with layers and bangs.

Braided Bangs: Sarah Connor

Have bangs that you can’t (or don’t want to) pull back? Try braiding it across to keep it off your sweaty forehead and face.

Braid and Bun: Alexandra Fulton

Want extra control? Braid your bangs and tie the rest of your mane into a bun. You’ll be able to run, do Pilates, and head straight to happy hour with this hairstyle.

Crazy Curls: Teresa Palmer

Girls with curls, this hairstyle is for you! Create a super-natural ‘do by bringing your hair into a ponytail at the top of your head. Then, wrap your curls around using bobby pins to secure the chunky strands.

High Bun: Jamie Chung

We love a high bun for special occasions, but you can also rock the easy, chic look while exercising. Flip your head over when you work your hair for best results.

Pigtails: Brittany Curran

Pigtails aren’t just for kids. Try them for your next gym visit. Wear them high, low, or in the middle (as pictured).

Hat Head: Paris Hilton

Hello, hats! Don’t forget—you can use accessories other than rubber bands when you’re at the gym. Use a hat to keep your hair off of your face. Just beware of hat hair!

Lovely Waves: Vanessa Hudgens

Let it all hang loose. This hairstyle works best on girls with waves and curls. Flaunt those tresses, girlfriend!

Beautiful Bangs: Sofia Vergara

Don’t worry about your bangs—showcase them on or off the courts. Tie your ponytail high, and worry about your bangs later.

Which hairstyle do you tend to wear the most when your working out at the gym?

Beauty: Low-Maintenance Hairstyle’s Men Love On Women

7 May

Straight Up Sexy

Why Guys Love It: From an evolutionary perspective, guys subconsciously like hair that looks clean and healthy, like Anna Faris’s blond locks. “Hair that’s in top condition shows that you have a balanced diet and good health — signs of an ideal mate,” says biological anthropologist Helen Fisher PhD.

How to Get It: Work a silicone-based straightening serum through damp hair before blow-drying. Clip locks in 4-6 sections depending on how thick your hair is. Then tackle one at a time with a paddle brush and a blow-dryer equipped with a nozzle pointed straight down. Finish with a light shine spray.

Why Guys Love It: Every guy drools over Megan Fox for her smoking bod and luscious lips, but they’d also love to run their fingers through her smooth, shiny hair. “Shine draws guys in because it’s a sign of youth and vitality,” adds Fisher.

How to Get It: Apply smoothing cream to damp hair. While blow-drying, use a medium-sized round brush and work from the bottom layers up. Pin the top portion out of your way and point the nozzle down to flatten the cuticle. When your mane is dry, mist on a thermal-straightening spray (the kind heat activates like Dove Heat Defense Therapy Mist, $5). Glide a flatiron over strands to kill any flyaways and seal in silkiness. Rake a tiny drop of shine serum through ends with your fingers for a superglossy movie-star finish.

Sexy Shag

Why Guys Love It: Jennifer Hudson shows off her neck and frames her face with this short bob. “Short and choppy, the new bob accentuates your cheekbones and eyes,” says celeb stylist Oscar Blandi.

How to Get It: Start with a protective styling spray to maintain shine like Got2b Guardian Angel Protect N’ Blow Out Lotion and Gloss Finish, $6. Then, divide hair into two-inch sections and blow-dry straight. Finish by using a flat-iron to flip out your ends slightly.

Pretty Pixie

Why Guys Love It: “Confident chicks don’t need to hide behind long hair,” says salon owner Roy Teeluck. Plus, soft, face-framing bangs come across as supersensual. Ginnifer Goodwin’s peekaboo fringe is flirty and mischievous.

How to Get It: Use a lightweight smoothing styler and a natural bristle brush to blow-dry hair smooth and forward. For control, spread a wax-based pomade in your palms, then pat it from roots to ends. Tuck extralong pieces behind your ear with a bobby pin.

Bad Girl Bump

Why Guys Love It: The small pouf (and we’re not talking The Snookie here) adds a subtle dose of glamour to any look. That’s why it’s such a hot red-carpet go-to. “Wearing your hair up bares your most seductive features, like your neck and shoulders,” explains celeb stylist Ken Paves. Hilary Duff looks pretty yet punk with this ‘do.

How to Get It: Part dry, straight hair from above the arches of each brow back to the crown to create a mini ponytail. Twist the top of the tail, and push hair forward to create volume, then secure with a large barrette or bobby pins. Gather the rest into a bun and mist with a holding spray (try Vavoom Shapemaker Shaping Spray, $15).

Why Guys Love It: Nikki Reed’s bun looks simple and elegant yet still touchable. The hair that falls into her face prevents the updo from looking too severe. “Men couldn’t care less if your strands are perfectly styled and neat. In fact, he might like you more with some wildness or bedhead, since it shows you’re carefree and relaxed,” says Fisher.

How to Get It: Make a low side ponytail, leaving a few pieces loose around your face. Twist the length of your ponytail, and wrap it into a figure-eight shape — smoosh it up against your scalp, and tuck the ends into the loop. Insert a few hairpins or tiny barrettes to lock it all in place. Finish with a mist of light-weight hair spray that’ll give you extra hold minus any stickiness, like Paul Mitchell Worked Up, $15.

Sexy Side Pony

Why Guys Love It: “An assymetrical updo is universally flattering for all face shapes because nobody’s features are perfectly aligned,” says NYC celeb stylist Nathaniel Hawkins. That means a side pony is an easy way to make sure no one notices your flaws. America Ferrera’s look is soft without looking sloppy or overdone.

How to Get It: Rub on a smoothing gel like L’Oreal Professional Texture Expert Gelee Riche, $20 through wet strands. Blow-dry hair over to one side to create hold. Then use your fingers to gather hair low under the ear and secure with an elastic band (keep it loose so the bun doesn’t look too prissy).

Schoolgirl Pony

Why Guys Love It: Play up your naughty cheerleader with Michelle Trachtenberg’s easy updo. The look works best when the pony is a bit relaxed. “Loose hair with tons of movement is such a hot look,” says Tresemme stylist Nathaniel Hawkins.

How to Get It : Set hair with styling cream then curl with a medium barrel iron from ears to ends. Using a fine-tooth comb, sweep hair up, secure it directly above your crown, then wrap a few strands around the elastic. Mist on hair spray for hold.

Summary: Even when it’s a special occasion, you don’t want to look like you spent a few hours with your blow dryer and straightening iron. Guys are most turned on by low-maintenance styles that feel natural. Try one of these and we bet your hair isn’t the only thing he touches.

Celebrity Hair Trends: Feather And Tinsel Hair Extensions Add Style

5 May

Add some flair to your hair this Spring!

If you are bored with your hair, try these fun, easy, and commitment-free ways to snazz up your look for Spring.

Featherlocks are actually little rooster feathers, hand picked by the owner of the company, who happens to be a hairstylist herself. There are knockoffs already, but the quality of Featherlocks and the ability to create how they look in your hair, sets them apart from the rest.

What’s cool is you can choose any color feathers you want, where you want them placed in your hair, and even create the look of highlights with them. They are applied similar to a locking type of hair extension, so it’s not harsh on your hair. Once you select the feathers you want, your stylist will place them on your hair, then clamp them down with this little bead that will keep the feathers in place. They won’t hurt, and they won’t fall out! You can wash, blow dry, flat iron, and even curl the feathers and they won’t ruin! Featherlocks run $10-$20 per feather section. But remember, these feathers last! It’s worth it for sure!

Don’t forget the long lasting trend that swept the nation and is still holding strong; Hair Tinsel.

These HairFlairs tinsels can add any color highlight without overpowering your look. They tie on individually to hair strands and are easily removed. You can blow dry, curl and flat iron these strands to go with any style. HairFlairs hair tinsel runs $2 a strand.

Hair Style: Find The Bangs That Frame Your Face Best

1 Feb

Jennifer Hudson: Round Face

WHY THEY WORK: The gently arching fringe complements Hudson’s soft, feminine features, says LeCompte.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: Bangs can make a circular face appear even fuller, cautions LeCompte, so the right cut is key. Request a graphic, curved shape, which will flatter your bone structure—and be sure the bangs are thick. Wispy versions won’t have the same impact.

Reese Witherspoon: Heart-Shaped Face

WHY THEY WORK: “A heart-shaped face can be a little top heavy. Sideswept bangs have a balancing effect and draw the attention down and towards the eyes,” says LeCompte.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: Layered, feathered bangs. The shortest pieces should hit the arch of your eyebrows; the longest should meet the outer corners of your eyes.

Lea Michele: Oval Face

WHY THEY WORK: Nearly any fringe works with an oval-shaped face, but these airy, pin-straight ones accentuate the prettiest parts of the face without feeling bulky.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: “Ask for bangs that hit between the brow and the eyelash and are longer on the edges,” says stylist Mark Townsend, who cut these for Michele. “That way, you can wear them swept aside or straight with a middle part.”

Taraji P. Henson: Small Forehead

WHY THEY WORK: This sloping, asymmetrical fringe makes a short forehead seem stronger and more pronounced, says Lecompte.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: To elongate a small brow, ask your stylist to cut your bangs on a steep, sideswept angle that blends into cheekbone-skimming layers. “These bangs also require a deep side part, which is flattering for many face shapes,” he adds.

Claudia Schiffer: High Forehead

WHY THEY WORK: Swingy bangs like these have a two-fold effect: The thickness works to conceal the forehead while the gradual angle opens and widens the face.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: “Heavy sideswept bangs that start in the center of the forehead and taper diagonally to a cheek-grazing length,” advises LeCompte. Be advised: These bangs start behind your natural hairline, but that’s okay. Because they’re so substantial, you’ll need the extra heft.

Nicole Richie: Square Face

WHY THEY WORK: Long, eye-grazing bangs that are tapered on the sides add a soft element to square face shapes.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: Heavy bangs like this need to hit the right place, otherwise, they can easily overwhelm your face, says L.A. stylist Andy LeCompte. Ask your stylist to snip them just below the brows, leaving the heaviest pieces on the sides so they don’t mask your eyes. The center strands can be feathery as a little forehead peeking through is ideal.

Clip In Bangs:  Hair Extensions.com

Summary: Bangs can offer a versatile character to your hairstyle and a simple but effective change to your haircut.

Make sure you find the one that matches your personality, your style and the 2010-2011 trends. There’s a huge variety to choose from, starting from extra short ones and till the choppy long ones.

If your not quite sure if you want to cut your locks off to create such a trendy look that you might get tired of in time. You can purchase a clip in bang.

If you want to save yourself the salon visit, and a human hair investment isn’t right for you, there is a solution!

The clip in bangs by hairdo are made of a revolutionary heat friendly (up to 350 degrees) synthetic fiber called Tru2Life.

You can style these bangs with heat tools just as you could the human hair version. The Tru2Life fiber also looks and feels remarkably like your own human hair, no one will be able to tell it’s not your own.

Clip in bangs are also perfect for thinning areas around the front and fringe area of your hairline. Clip in bangs by Hairdo are the easiest and most affordable way to see how bangs work for you.

Kate Hudson Rocks Red Carpet With Sexy Side Bun

24 Oct

Kate Hudson walked the red carpet this week rocking a bed-head, side-bun combo. With a super tousled look there’s a fine line between sexy and disheveled — and we think Kate pulled it off just right.

Her wavy strands in the front frame her face while the haphazard side bun adds an unexpected twist. We shouldn’t be surprised given that she’s always had great hair to begin with.

This look is great because it’s easy, sultry and can be achieved even when you’re in a crunch for time. What guy wouldn’t find this look sexy.

I personally love hair dos that are sexy and sultry and quick and easy.
